IPL is a well-proven technology for the treatment of facial redness and vascular lesions associated with rosacea. Controlled light in specific wavelengths target inflammation, redness, and blood vessels, leaving the rest of the skin intact. Our new generation Nordlys IPL system is the treatment of choice for rosacea providing a gradual and natural improvement to the skin’s appearance.
The Nd:YAG laser uses a wavelength of energy light that aims to treat deeper levels of the skin. This is ideal for addressing skin issues such as vascular lesions called telangiectasia. The laser energy is delivered using long pulses that convert to heat in the targeted tissue. The heat removes the unwanted vessels and stimulates the body’s natural healing response.
It is best if you avoid activities or foods that will cause flushing or heat your skin, such as hot tubs or exercise or spicy foods and alcohol for 24-48 hours after treatment. You may experience redness for a few days and sun protection is recommended. Once the IPL treatment has been performed, the vascular lesions tend to diminish slowly over the course of several weeks.
You may experience some redness and sun protection is recommended for the next 24 hours, but that’s all. Once the IPL treatment has been performed, vascular lesions tend to diminish slowly over the course of several weeks.
You’ll have several treatment sessions, with a few weeks between sessions. Because the laser collapses the red blood cells within the vessels, you may still see a reddish hue in the treated area for a few days after each session. Sun protection is essential for both during and after treatment.
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy can cause temporary redness after treatment but this disappears within a few hours. With Nd:YAG laser therapy, you may experience some tenderness or warmth during the treatment but this also dissipates shortly after.
There is no definitive answer to this question as the best treatment for vascular lesions will vary depending on the individual case. Some factors that will affect the decision include the location and size of the lesion, the patient’s skin type, and the severity of the condition. In general, IPL therapy is more effective for treating smaller, more superficial lesions, while Nd:YAG laser therapy is better for larger, deeper vessels
